The Harrison Mayor & Council will be Meeting Tues. February 7th, 2023 at 6:30 P.M In Person. There is no Zoom Option. The public is invited to attend and participate in the Public Session and/or the Public Session during an Ordinance discussion.

This month's agenda includes among other items:

ORDINANCES

ADOPTION OF THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE:

ORDINANCE NO. 1476

AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF HARRISON, COUNTY OF HUDSON, STATE OF NEW JERSEY ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE WATERFRONT  REDEVELOPMENT AREA REGARDING PARKING REQUIREMENTS FOR RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS ADJACENT TO A PUBLIC PARKING FACILITY

Quote from Proposed Ordinance: “Notwithstanding anything in the Plan to the contrary, any residential redevelopment project constructed after January 1, 2023, the closest boundary of which is located within 50 feet from the closest wall of a Public Parking Facility, shall provide parking at a ratio of one-half (1/2) spaces per dwelling unit ("Parking Requirement")”

The Ordinance Reduces Parking Space Requirement for a Building 50 feet from the Harrison Public Parking Facility to ½ parking space per dwelling unit.  At one time, Developers had to provide two parking spaces per dwelling unit built.


INTRODUCTION OF THE FOLLOWING ORDINANCE:

ORDINANCE NO. 1477
AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE CAPITAL INVESTMENT IN A TOWN-WIDE PUBLIC SAFETY VIDEO & NETWORK SYSTEM IN THE TOWN OF HARRISON, COUNTY OF HUDSON, NEW JERSEY USING FEDERAL COVID MONEY FOR OVER 1.9 MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE FEDERAL AMERICAN RESCUE LOCAL FISCAL RECOVERY PROGRAM DUE TO COVID 19 BEING DISTRIBUTED FROM THE COUNTY AND BEING USED FOR ONE PROJECT.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING REFUND OF VARIOUS RECREATION PROGRAM PAYMENTS

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO PROVIDE FOR TEMPORARY EMERGENCY APPROPRIATIONS TO THE 2023 MUNICIPAL BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,642,602.37

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO PROVIDE FOR TEMPORARY EMERGENCY APPROPRIATIONS TO THE 2023 PARKING UTILITY BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $$1,075,000 IN PRINCIPAL AND $1,604,762.50 INTEREST FOR A TOTAL OF $2,679,762.50

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE TAX APPEAL SETTLEMENT OF 1000 SOUTH INC., BLOCK 103, LOT 1

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE TAX APPEAL SETTLEMENT OF ESTRELLA DEVELOPMENT, LLC, BLOCK 67, LOT 3

Additional Resolutions are on the Agenda for the Meeting including one that give you the opportunity to purchase the Smart Car Parking Enforcement Vehicle. Maybe it comes with an exemption from getting parking tickets in Harrison.

This meeting will provide audience members with an opportunity not only to ask questions about a particular Resolution, Ordinance, or any topic that is not on the Agenda and to express their opinion about something of concern to the citizen. All citizens are invited to take part in this discussion as our input is a valuable contribution to the success of our nation’s democracy.

The February 7, 2023 meeting of the Harrison Mayor & Council starts at 6:30 p.m. and is IN PERSON on the 3rd Floor for the Public Caucus (Persons Can Appear and Ask Questions During Caucus) and 2nd Floor Council Chambers. There is NO Zoom option to attend the meeting.

There is both a time to address the Mayor & Council when an Ordinance is introduced and a Public session regarding the Ordinance is announced.  In addition, there is an opportunity for the Public to speak during the Public Session of the meeting where questions can be asked and/or complaints, comments, and suggestions can be made. There is a 5-minute time period for each member of the public.  The Mayor can extend the period for a member of the public to speak. Anyone can speak at the meeting.  There is no residency requirement to speak.

The first Town of Harrison Mayor & Council Meeting was scheduled for January 3, 2023, but was canceled.
