Weekend Blizzard Forecast for Harrison: Sunday–Monday Storm 2/21/2026
Feb 21, 2026
Harrison residents and our neighbors across New Jersey and the NYC Metropolitan area should take note: when Meteorologist Anthony “Tony” Mondaro of the Harrison Weather Center sounds the alarm, it’s usually wise to listen.
Tony’s forecasts have consistently proven accurate, and his latest outlook for Sunday, February 22, into Monday, February 23, 2026, calls for what could become a significant winter event. Saturday will be sunny with highs near 50 degrees, followed by cloudy skies and lows in the 30s overnight. By Sunday, wet snow mixed with rain develops with temperatures in the 30s. Sunday night into Monday is when conditions could deteriorate rapidly, with snow possibly heavy at times and near blizzard conditions developing. Travel is not recommended Sunday night through Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Warnings for most areas, and from New York City south to the Jersey Shore, Blizzard Warnings are in effect. Tuesday’s outlook? Sunny and cold, with highs in the 30s.
In true Tony fashion, the forecast came with both clarity and humor. “You need to get ready for the storm today — into Sunday at noon is your time to shine,” he advises, adding that if you want to prepare without precipitation, Sunday before 6 a.m. is your best window. Could it be as bad as some are saying? “Yes.” Will there be school on Monday? “My opinion — no.” Will his dog enjoy the blizzard conditions? “YES.” And is Tony watching the Mets’ Spring Training game (Saturday) at 1 p.m. instead of monitoring the weather? “1000% plus YES!!” His favorite color? “Blue — Royal Blue like the Mets and the Harrison Blue Tide.” Tony’s bottom line message is classic: stay calm, prepare, don’t overdo it, and “don’t be a total jackass.” He also tipped his cap to Harrison’s top-notch DPW crews, along with EMS, Fire, and Police who will face the elements head on. As for snowfall totals? “Patrol social media — they’re having a field day.”
Prepare wisely, check on neighbors, especially the elderly, and have a safe weekend. The No Parking signs along Harrison Avenue and Frank E. Rodgers in Harrison NJ were up yesterday (Friday, February 20th) so move your cars.
