Harrison PD Radio Silence in Stabbing Case Due to Active Investigation

The Harrison Police Department is continuing to withhold the names of six individuals arrested in connection with a violent stabbing that occurred in Harrison on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, as well as the name of the victim who suffered life-threatening injuries in the attack.

In response to an inquiry from Your Harrison, Harrison Police Director Nick Breiner stated via email that the department cannot release identifying information at this time, citing an active investigation in coordination with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. While that rationale is recognized as legitimate—particularly where disclosure could jeopardize witness statements or prosecutorial strategy—the ongoing radio silence raises renewed concerns in Harrison about transparency in matters of significant public interest and safety.

Swift Arrests, Limited Information

As previously reported by Your Harrison, the incident triggered a coordinated law-enforcement response involving the Harrison Police Department, New Jersey Transit Police, the Port Authority Police Department’s Emergency Service Unit (PAPD ESU), and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Six suspects were ultimately taken into custody following foot pursuits throughout Harrison and into the PATH system. The final arrest occurred after PAPD ESU officers used a thermal imaging camera to locate a suspect hiding in dense brush under a bridge. The pursuit forced a suspension of PATH service between Newark and Harrison for approximately 40 minutes during the evening commute.

Despite the rapid apprehensions, neither the charges against the suspects nor any potential link between the parties involved has been made public. The motive for the stabbing has also not been disclosed.

A Lack of Public Transparency?

The victim was transported to a hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries, though law enforcement has not provided an update since the week following the attack. The absence of named suspects weeks after the arrests stands in stark contrast to standard police practice in many jurisdictions, where names and charges in violent-crime cases are made public within hours or days of apprehension.

Residents have also expressed frustration with the limited flow of information, especially given the incident’s visibility, impact on public transportation, and concerns regarding overall safety in a rapidly developing community.

We are confident that the Harrison Police Department will provide further details once it has completed its investigation. Your Harrison will continue to periodically request updates from Harrison Police Chief Stanley Titterington and Police Director Nick Breiner.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Harrison Police Department's Detective Bureau.
