Harrison NJ 9/11 Memorial Service Sun. Sept. 11, 2022

Sep 10, 2022

The Harrison East Newark Elks Lodge 2326 in conjunction with the Town of Harrison will be holding a Memorial Service at Library Park on Harrison Avenue in Harrison NJ in front of the Harrison 9/11 Memorial starting at 11 a.m.

The Harrison 9/11 Memorial is on the northeast corner of Library Park on Harrison Avenue.  The memorial is one of the first to use a piece of the iron beams from the World Trade Center Twin Towers. A waterfall was incorporated into the beams. Given Harrison's Industrial past, a raw iron beam is a fitting memorial. An engraved marker sits beside the iron.

Fabian Soto

The Memorial Service will honor the memory of those lost on September 11, 2001 as a result of a terrorist attack on the United States of America.  The Town of Harrison had one resident who lost his life on 9/11. Fabian Soto, 31, perished as a result of the attack on the World Trade Center.  Fabian was a window washer at the World Trade Center.

The public is encouraged to attend the 9/11 Memorial Service.

There is more information about Harrison’s 9/11 Memorial and Fabian Soto in a prior article on Your Harrison entitled Harrison NJ 9/11 Memorial

It does not appear that Fabian Soto's name appears on the marker or a part of the beam. Something that should be considered in the future.
