Within 30 Minutes Harrison Mayor & Council Pass 15 Agenda Items

Harrison NJ Clock Face Speedy Mayor Council Meeting

At the Mayor & Council meeting held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, the Mayor & Council voted on and passed 15 resolutions in less than 30 minutes. Town of Harrison meetings are not know for taking too much time but this meeting had quite a number of important Ordinances and Resolutions so it was surprising to see how quickly the Ordinances and Resolutions were introduced and passed .Every single item passed.

The Mayor & Council’s meeting passed  the following items,

 

  1. Extension of Environmental Contamination Litigation Deadline

 

  1. The reappointment of Mayor James Fife as Chairman of the Harrison Redevelopment Agency

 

  1. Appointment of a new member to the Redevelopment Agency for the Unexpired Term of another member who did not complete her term.

 

  1. The adoption of recommendations made by the Town Auditor.

 

  1. The adoption of the “Corrective Action Plan” by the Town’s Treasurer to the Mayor & Council and the Director of the Division of Local Government Services related to the handling of payments for town fees.

 

  1. An Ordinance regarding Flooding in the Town of Harrison states in part “Federal Emergency Management Agency has identified special flood hazard areas within the boundaries of Town of Harrison and such areas may be subject to periodic inundation which may result in loss of life and property, health and safety hazards, disruption of commerce and governmental services, extraordinary public expenditures for flood protection and relief, and impairment of the tax base, all of which adversely affect the public health, safety, and general welfare”.

 

  1. An Ordinance repealing Ordinance 1233 passed in February of 2011, twelve years ago, under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Town of Harrison and the Department of Community Services to obtain aid from the Department of Community Services, which would eliminate the requirement that the Mayor and Council members comply with the “New Jersey Local Unit Pay to Play Law.” And replace it with “New Jersey Law.”

 

  1. A Capital Ordinance appropriating $450,000 from Capital Improvement to Various items for purchase.

 

  1. A Resolution Authorizing an Overpayment Refund to Harrison Hotel 1 Urban Renewal LLC

 

  1. A Resolution Authorizing Redemption of Outside Lien Block 2 Lot 10

 

  1. A Resolution to Review The Annual Report of Audit

 

  1. Resolution Approving ABC License Renewal

 

  1. Resolution to Authorize the Sale of Certain Personal Property

 

  1. A Resolution for Payment of Bills and Payroll

 

  1. Resolution to Provide Consent to Co-Location of Cellular Wireless Communication Tower

Members of the public did speak at the Meeting within thirty minutes.
