What Is the SheBelieves Cu
The SheBelieves Cup is an annual invitational international tournament hosted by the United States Soccer Federation and first launched in 2016 as part of the federation’s broader “SheBelieves” campaign, which promotes leadership, confidence, and opportunity for girls and women through sport.
Now in its 11th edition, the tournament has become one of the premier events in women’s international soccer, regularly featuring top-ranked national teams from around the world. The competition is designed to provide elite competition for the United States Women's National Soccer Team while also showcasing the global growth of the women’s game. Historically, the United States has been the most successful team in the tournament, winning the title seven times since its creation. Other nations such as France, England, and Japan have also captured the trophy in past matches.
Beyond the competition itself, the SheBelieves initiative seeks to inspire young women to pursue their ambitions both on and off the field. The program includes youth leadership programs, community events, and mentoring initiatives connected to the tournament.
Four Nations Competing in the 2026 Tournament
The 2026 tournament features four national teams from across the Americas:
- United States Women's National Soccer Team
- Canada women's national soccer team
- Argentina women's national soccer team
- Colombia women's national soccer team
The event brings together the top two teams from the CONCACAF region — the United States and Canada — along with two leading South American teams, Argentina and Colombia, creating a competitive “Americas vs. Americas” showcase of international women’s soccer.
All four teams currently rank among the world’s top national programs, making the tournament an important measuring stick ahead of future competitions such as the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup and regional qualification events.
