St. Patrick's Day Parade: East Newark Volunteer Firefighters

Mar 10, 2024
1941 East Newark Fire Engine

The Borough of East Newark Volunteer Firefighters have always participated in the United Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade and this year was no exception. There is nothing like the sound of the siren from the East Newark Fire Department's 1941 Engine which takes the lead every time.  Compared to today's Fire Engines it makes one wonder how the brave firefighters of that era managed to beat back fires in West Hudson.  But East Newark's Hose Co., No. 1's Engine does have some beautiful lines, and its open-air cab is perfect for a parade as long as you wear a hat.  Notice the brave firefighter driving has no hat. Having a hat would spoil the look. God protect and bless our firefighters.
