The game was organized by CMN Sports, an international sports and entertainment multimedia company, and Lion Sports Media, the leading company in the development and organization of international soccer matches.  Carolina Daza, the director of CMN Sports, stated that “We are committed to bringing international soccer to fans across the US, and these games will deliver the excitement and passion that can only be seen during a World Cup year.”

The 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar in November of this year.  The Opening Match will be Ecuador versus Qatar.  The international matches are a warm-up to the World Cup games.

Ecuador has been in the World Cup four times.  It did miss the 2018 World Cup but is making its return this year.  Ecuador previously qualified for the 2002 World Cup in Korea/Japan, the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Ecuador’s star soccer players include Michael Estrada, a forward, who had six goals in the World Cup Qualifying games; Piero Hicapie (defender), Gonzalo Plata (midfielder), and Enner Valencia (forward).

Nigeria is currently ranked 30th in the world and the most successful African nation in six previous World Cup appearances. Nigeria was crowned champions at the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980, 1994, and 2013.

International games tend to bring out very demonstrative fans who want to show their support for their team.  There have been prior incidents at the Red Bull Stadium when attendees at International Games get carried away and there has been a need for the Red Bulls' security officers and local police officers to separate fans and restore order at and outside the Red Bulls Arena.  We are sure that the Red Bulls management and the event organizers CMN Sports and Lions Sports will have retained sufficient police presence to deter any fan from celebrating in a manner that would harm other patrons at the game.
