New York Red Bulls Set to Host Real Salt Lake Sun. 8/10/25 Showdown

Aug 08, 2025
New York Red Bulls v. Real Salt Lake Soccer Team

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, the New York Red Bulls will welcome Real Salt Lake to the Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison for a Major League Soccer clash scheduled to kick off at 6:00 p.m. The match, presented by Toyota, promises to bring high energy and a surge of fans into the southern end of Harrison.

This matchup marks the 25th regular-season meeting between the two clubs. While Real Salt Lake (RSL) holds a slight edge in the all-time series with an 8-6-10 record, the Red Bulls have been dominant at home, posting a 6-1-4 record against RSL in New Jersey. In fact, New York is unbeaten in their last four home matches against Salt Lake, including a memorable 4-0 victory the last time RSL visited in 2019.

Team Backgrounds

Real Salt Lake was founded in 2004 and began MLS competition in 2005. The team plays its home games at America First Field, formerly known as Rio Tinto Stadium, located in Sandy, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City. The stadium seats approximately 20,213 fans and is known for its scenic mountain backdrop and passionate fanbase.

The New York Red Bulls, one of the league’s original clubs, were founded in 1995 as the MetroStars and joined Major League Soccer as a charter member in 1996. They were renamed the Red Bulls in 2006 following a change in ownership. The Red Bulls play at the Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, NJ, which has a capacity of 25,000 and remains one of the premier soccer-specific stadiums in the country.

Red Bulls on a Roll

The Red Bulls have been strong at home this season, boasting an 8-2-2 record in league play and eyeing a ninth home victory — a milestone they haven’t hit since 2019. Goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci, who made his fifth career appearance in Thursday’s 1-1 draw against FC Juárez, continues to impress. The West Chester, PA native remains unbeaten across all competitions with a 3-0-2 record and notched his first shutout on July 31 in a 1-0 win over Chivas Guadalajara.

Marcucci also has a perfect 2-0 record in penalty shootouts and will be seeking his second MLS regular season appearance, having debuted earlier this year in a 2-1 win over Toronto FC at home.

Traffic and Parking Advisory

Due to the expected influx of fans and the early evening kickoff, the Harrison Police Department will issue a Traffic and Parking Bulletin in advance of the event. The bulletin will detail street closures, no-parking zones, and residential escort procedures. Residents living in areas surrounding the stadium in the southern section of Harrison will experience limited vehicular access and should prepare accordingly. Police escorts will be available to assist residents in reaching their homes during peak traffic times.

As with all major events at the Sports Illustrated Stadium, fans are encouraged to use public transportation, including PATH train service to Harrison Station, to ease congestion and ensure a smooth experience.

With Real Salt Lake making their first visit to Harrison since 2019 and both teams jockeying for playoff positioning, Sunday's game is shaping up to be a thrilling contest. Red Bulls fans will be hoping to continue their strong home form and celebrate a key victory under the lights.
