Music & Joy: Danny Conde Band (Video) at United Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade

In a memorable moment of musical celebration, The Danny Conde Band, adorned in striking black attire, marched through the streets of West Hudson during the United Irish St. Patrick’s Day parade on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Their performance not only showcased their musical talents but also created an unforgettable experience for attendees, proving that the spirit of St. Patrick's Day is alive and well.

The parade, while coursing its way through the Town of Harrison, experienced an unexpected halt. This pause, however, turned into a serendipitous showcase of the band's versatility and spirit. As the minutes ticked by without movement, The Danny Conde Band seized the opportunity to connect with the crowd, turning a delay into a delight. Their impromptu performance captivated the audience, filling the air with the infectious energy of live music and the shared joy of community celebration. Luckily the moment was caught on video. Behind this remarkable ensemble is Danny Conde, a figure well-known in the music education community for his dedication, skill, and passion for fostering young musicians. Conde, who has been shaping the future of music through his role as a band director, carries with him a rich history of musical and educational achievement. His journey in music education began at Harrison High School, where for six years, he played a pivotal role as the Band Director. His tenure at Harrison was marked by his contributions to the Band, Marching Band, and Music Theory programs. Beyond these, his involvement extended to the Technology Club and the Musical Drama Club, where he served as the Music Director, showcasing his versatile talents and commitment to the arts.

In 2022, Conde's career took a significant turn as he fulfilled a lifelong dream by returning to Kearny, his hometown, to lead as its Band Director. This transition was not just a career move but a homecoming to where his heart truly belongs. As Kearny High School’s Performing and Visual Arts Teacher, Conde now oversees Concert Band, Music Theory, and Freshmen Seminars, contributing to a vibrant arts culture within the school.

Under his guidance, the band program at Kearny High School is flourishing. Conde's dedication to excellence and his goal is to take the school’s concert band to various competitions, seeking not just accolades but opportunities for his students to learn, excel, and realize they can with hard work compete with other talented musicians.  Conde’s recent involvement in the Kearny High School musical "The Addams Family," orchestrated by the Kearny High School Visual and Performing Arts program, saw him excel in dual roles as the instrumental music director and show lighting director, further proof of his multifaceted talent and dedication to the arts.

The performance of The Danny Conde Band at the United Irish St. Patrick’s Day parade is a testament to Conde's leadership and the talent of his students. It highlights the importance of music education and the impact it has on communities, bringing people together through the universal language of music. As Conde continues to inspire and educate the next generation of musicians, his contributions to the cultural fabric of his community remain invaluable. The Danny Conde Band's march in the parade will be remembered as a moment of joy, unity, and celebration, embodying the spirit of St. Patrick's Day and the transformative power of music.
