The Portuguese American Club of Kearny, New Jersey's motorcycle wing, the Associação Cultural Portuguesa (ACP) Riders, took part in the United Irish St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

The ACP Riders, a group known for their love of motorcycles and philanthropy, have become a staple in the community for their year-round activities that foster commodore among its members and the community.

One of their flagship events, the Toy For Tots toy drive, held every December, has garnered widespread acclaim for its impact on underprivileged children during the holiday season. Participating in the St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Riders once again demonstrated their ethos of unity, solidarity, and the joy of giving. Plus it was not a bad day to be out on a slow ride in a Parade. The number of riders did not reflect the depth of membership but the forecasters were saying rain and possibly snow so for sure a lot of members did not prepare their bikes for a ride and missed out. Of course, we cheered on loudly those who rode the parade because they were coming out no matter what for sure.

Decked in their distinctive gear, blending the vibrant green emblematic of St. Patrick's Day with symbols of their Portuguese heritage, the ACP Riders added a unique flavor to the parade. The roar of their engines was a call to attention, drawing eyes and cheers from the crowd, symbolizing a bridge between cultures and communities. The parade, a long-standing tradition celebrating Irish culture and heritage, was enriched by the presence of the Riders, underscoring the universal themes of friendship.
