July 4th Fireworks Near Harrison NJ in 2026
Jul 03, 2026
The Town of Harrison does not currently host its own Independence Day fireworks celebration. But Harrison residents looking to celebrate the Fourth of July will not have to travel far. Several nearby communities, including Jersey City, Kearny, Belleville, Nutley, and Montclair, are once again offering fireworks, parades, music, food, and family-friendly activities for the holiday weekend.
For Harrison residents, the holiday also brings back memories of July 4, 2023, when Red Bull Arena, now Sports Illustrated Stadium, hosted a CONCACAF Gold Cup soccer doubleheader with four international teams on Independence Day. That event drew public concern because of traffic and neighborhood disruption on a day traditionally reserved for family gatherings and local celebrations. Last year’s YourHarrison.com article noted that stadium management later promised not to hold an international soccer game at the stadium on July 4 again.
Sports Illustrated Stadium Watch Parties
For 2026, Sports Illustrated Stadium is in the middle of a busy summer calendar tied to international soccer, concerts, and World Cup-related watch parties. However, the public event information reviewed does not show an international soccer game at Sports Illustrated Stadium on July 4. The stadium’s promoted summer schedule includes World Cup fan hub events running on select dates through July 15 and Red Bull-related soccer celebration activities on July 5, 2026.
Jersey City: Festival and Fireworks at Exchange Place

One of the largest Independence Day celebrations in the area will again take place in Jersey City, where the city’s Fourth of July Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Exchange Place.
The celebration is scheduled to begin at noon and will include family-friendly festivities, more than 60 vendors, three DJ stages, two beer gardens, and a Kids’ Zone with activations and bounce castles. The night is scheduled to conclude with fireworks over the Hudson River beginning at 9:30 p.m., synchronized to a patriotic soundtrack and visible along the waterfront.
For Harrison residents, Jersey City is one of the easiest large-scale celebrations to reach by public transportation. Taking PATH to Exchange Place remains the most practical option, especially given the expected large crowds and road closures along the waterfront.
Kearny: Fireworks at Veterans Field
Kearny, Harrison’s neighboring town to the north, is scheduled to hold its Fourth of July Celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Veterans Field.
According to the Kearny official website, the celebration begins at 6 p.m. with The Kootz Band, followed by The Danny Conde Band at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:05 p.m. The event is listed as free to attend.
Veterans Field is located at 300 Belgrove Drive in Kearny. For Harrison families, this is one of the closest traditional fireworks options, particularly for residents who want a local community atmosphere without traveling into Jersey City or New York City.
Belleville: Fireworks on July 3 and Family Events on July 4

Belleville is again holding a multi-day Independence Day celebration. Its annual free fireworks show is scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, at Belleville Municipal Stadium, with family fun beginning at 6 p.m. The township’s announcement says the event will include face painting, games, food trucks, and a DJ, with fireworks as the highlight of the evening.
Belleville’s celebration continues on July 4 with daytime activities tied to America’s 250th birthday. The township’s schedule includes a ceremony honoring Revolutionary War soldiers at the Dutch Reformed Church and a free Color Run beginning at 1 p.m. at Belleville High School’s horseshoe at 100 Passaic Avenue. Participants are encouraged to wear white, gray, or black.
For Harrison residents willing to cross into Essex County, Belleville offers both a fireworks night and a more history-centered July 4 program.
Nutley: Fireworks at the Park Oval

Nutley’s Independence Day celebration is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the Nutley Park Oval, located at 300 Franklin Avenue.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and will include food vendors, music, games, and performers. Fireworks are scheduled for dusk. Franklin Avenue is expected to be closed from Chestnut Street to Church Street for the celebration. ([Patch][4])
Nutley’s Park Oval celebration is a traditional family-oriented event and gives Harrison residents another nearby fireworks option without having to travel into a major city crowd.
Montclair: Parade and Community Picnic, But No Fireworks

Montclair will hold its traditional July 4 parade and community picnic on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The parade begins at 11 a.m. and follows a 1.6-mile route west on Bloomfield Avenue, north on Midland Avenue, continuing to Watchung Avenue, west to Valley Road, and ending at Edgemont Park. The parade is held rain or shine.
The community picnic begins at 1 p.m. at Edgemont Park, where food trucks, music, games, and activities will be available. Montclair’s celebration is a good daytime option for families, but residents should note that Montclair does not have its own fireworks show as part of the parade and picnic program.

A Holiday Weekend Without a Harrison Celebration
Although Harrison does not hold its own Fourth of July fireworks celebration, residents have several nearby options. Kearny offers the closest traditional fireworks display. Jersey City provides the largest waterfront festival and fireworks show. Belleville and Nutley offer Essex County options with music, food, and family activities. Montclair hosts a daytime parade and picnic for those seeking a community celebration without fireworks.
Residents planning to attend any event should check the municipality’s official website or social media before leaving home. Weather, crowd-control plans, road closures, and public safety rules can change quickly, especially for fireworks events
With Harrison located between several active communities and major transit routes, residents have choices. What Harrison does not have, at least for now, is its own Independence Day celebration where families can gather locally to mark the Fourth of July together.
