Families across Harrison, New Jersey, are invited to celebrate spring at one of the town’s most beloved traditions—the annual Easter Egg Hunt—set for Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Franklin D. Roosevelt Park (Harrison Library Park).located in the heart of Harrison at 415 Harrison Avenue, Harrison NJ.
Hosted by the Harrison Recreation Department, under the leadership of Chairman Councilman Laurence "Larry" Bennett and Harrison Recreation Director Larry Kelly, the event will run from 9 a.m. to noon and is open to all Harrison residents. Children are encouraged to bring their own baskets or bags to collect eggs as they scatter across the park in a colorful celebration of the season.
The Easter Egg Hunt has long been a cherished springtime activity in communities across the United States, with roots tracing back to European traditions brought over by early settlers. In towns like Harrison, these events began as small neighborhood gatherings, often organized by local churches or civic groups. Over time, they grew into larger, town-sponsored celebrations that bring together families, friends, and neighbors. Today, the Easter Egg Hunt is a highlight of the Recreation Department’s calendar—signaling the arrival of warmer weather and the start of outdoor community events.

Part of the event’s enduring appeal lies in the symbolism of the Easter egg itself. Eggs have long represented new life and renewal, themes closely tied to the spring season and the Easter holiday. Brightly colored eggs, whether real or plastic, add an element of excitement and surprise for children, who eagerly search for hidden treasures scattered across the grass. For many families, the hunt is more than just a game—it’s a chance to create lasting memories and celebrate togetherness.
With laughter, excitement, and plenty of eggs to be found, this year’s Easter Egg Hunt promises to be another joyful morning in Harrison. Residents are encouraged to arrive early, bring their baskets, and enjoy a festive start to the spring season.
