Harrison FMBA Local 22 Hosts Jr Firefighter Day on Sat. 11/1/2025
Oct 20, 2025
The Harrison Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA) Local No. 22 will host its Annual Junior Firefighter Day on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Library Park, located on the Ann Street side next to the Harrison Public Library. The event is open to all Harrison residents and promises a fun-filled day for children and families.
A Day of Fun and Learning
Junior Firefighter Day is a favorite community event that allows children to meet their hometown heroes while learning about fire safety in an engaging and interactive way. Throughout the day, kids will enjoy food, beverages, and Halloween candy, along with a variety of exciting activities.
In past years, the event has featured a Bounce House, Face Painting, and numerous hands-on experiences supervised by members of the Harrison Fire Department. Young participants have had the chance to Spray a Fire Hose, crawl through a Smokehouse Tunnel to learn about fire safety, and take a tour of a real Fire Engine. The event also includes prizes and giveaways, making it both educational and entertaining for children of all ages.
Continuing a Tradition of Community Service

The Harrison Fire Department has a long and proud history of community involvement that extends far beyond emergency response. Over the years, Harrison firefighters have played an active role in many of the town’s beloved traditions and civic celebrations.
Firefighters regularly participate in the Harrison Fest Parade, proudly driving their gleaming fire engines down Harrison Avenue as part of the town’s multicultural celebration. They also take part in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, honoring the town’s Irish-American heritage, and volunteered at the annual Harrison Fest Holiday Party at the Holy Cross Church basement — a cherished event for local children, parents, and seniors.
These community activities highlight the deep bond between the Harrison Fire Department and the residents they serve. Whether it’s fighting fires, teaching safety, or celebrating together, the firefighters of Harrison FMBA Local No. 22 continue to demonstrate their commitment to protecting lives and strengthening community spirit.
Join the Fun
Residents are encouraged to come out on November 1st to enjoy the festivities, meet the firefighters, and let the kids experience what it’s like to be a Junior Firefighter for a day. Events like these reflect the best of Harrison — a town where service, safety, and community pride go hand in hand.
