Gotham FC Hosts Playoff Game Against Portland Thorns Sun. Nov.10, 2024

In an electrifying milestone for NJ/NY Gotham FC (Gotham FC), they are set to host their first-ever Red Bull Arena home playoff game in the club's history on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The match, which kicks off at 3 p.m., sees Gotham FC facing off against the Portland Thorns in the quarterfinals of the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Playoffs, presented by Google Pixel. Fans are in for a treat, as the first 5,000 attendees through the gates will receive a commemorative Gotham FC Playoff Pennant Flag to mark this historic occasion.

Gotham FC’s incredible season has been defined by record-breaking success. Wrapping up the regular season with an unprecedented 56 points, Gotham set a new club record for most points in a single season, shattering their previous high of 36 points set in 2013. This remarkable point tally propelled them to a third-place finish, their highest placement ever in the NWSL standings, signaling a new era of accomplishment and momentum for the team. The first-place team in the NWSL Standings was the Orlando Pride followed by the second-ranked Washington Spirit.

In their final regular-season match, Gotham FC secured a commanding 4-1 victory over the Utah Royals on the road. Gotham FC players hope to carry that momentum into the Playoffs.

Portland Thorns, meanwhile, enter the playoffs after a mixed end to their regular season. They secured two wins in their last three matches but are still rebounding from a challenging seven-game winless streak that cast uncertainty over their playoff hopes. Portland finished with 34 points, clinching the sixth seed in this year’s playoff race.

Prior Encounters Between The Teams

When these two teams met in the regular season, Gotham FC emerged victorious on both occasions. In their first matchup on March 24, Gotham narrowly edged out Portland 1-0. Their second encounter on August 24 saw Gotham notch another shutout, winning 2-0. As Gotham prepares to host Portland again, they bring the confidence of these past wins and a well-rested roster ready to advance further in the playoffs.

Harrison Police Traffic Bulletin

In anticipation of a large crowd, the Harrison Police Department has issued a Traffic Bulletin for Sunday’s game. Fans are advised to plan their arrival and parking arrangements ahead of time, as moderate-heavy traffic is expected around Red Bull Arena.

A special guest, Eli Manning, retired New York Giants Quarterback, will be at Red Bull Arena.  As some may know, Manning has an ownership interest in Gotham FC.
