Davis Avenue Fire Displaces 3 Families

The Harrison Fire Department battled a house fire on the 400 block of Davis Avenue in Harrison on Thursday, July 7, 2022 in the early afternoon.

Three families were displaced from their homes due to the fire. When the Harrison Fire Department firefighters Battalion 3 arrived at the scene they found smoke exiting from the roof line.  Upon entry into the building the Harrison Firefighters found smoke condition inside the building.  An interior attack on the fire was started.  Harrison's Ladder Company 1 forced entry and found fire in the attic.  The interior crews performed an aggressive interior attack and knocked the fire down.  Mutual aid Kearny Firefighters assisted in vertical ventilation and searched for fire extensions in the building.

Kearny Fire Department Engine 1, Ladder Tower 2 and Deputy 4 responded to the scene of the Fire. Harrison and other municipalities provided Mutual Aid to Kearny last week in a fire on Laurel Avenue in Kearny. The Harrison Fire Department was able to contain the fire to the one house. Last week, the fire on Laurel Avenue spread from one house to an adjacent house. The houses in Kearny were basically on top of each other while the Harrison building were fortunately wider apart. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Harrison Fire Prevention Bureau.

The three families that were displaced from their homes are being assisted by the American Red Cross with temporary housing.

Thank you to the Harrison Fire Department and all of the other municipalities that provided Mutual Aid for their hard work in battling this fire. There were no injuries and all residents were evacuated safely.
