The Last Harrison Fireworks

The last time the Town of Harrison celebrated with Fireworks was at one of the Harrison Fest Street Festivals where then Councilman Anselmo Millan (Councilman Millan) had high-tech and safe fireworks at the Library Park.

Councilman Millan, as President of Harrison Fest, initially got opposition to close off Harrison Avenue between 1st Street and Davis Avenue for a Grand Parade and Street Festival as well as for the Fireworks.  Closing Harrison Avenue created a Pedestrian Mall with live performances by musicians on Stage and folkloric dancing groups and Elvis and Michael Jackson (impersonators) performing.  Food Vendors, craft vendors, and local merchants displayed and sold their merchandise. Families gathered for a good time.

The Fireworks display put the exclamation point at the end of the festivities and a long day with a Grand Parade, Street Festival on Harrison Avenue, and a lot of happy residents and visitors.  People talk about the Red Bulls Arena putting Harrison on the map but Harrison Fest had a lot to do with it too. It became a Statewide event with diverse ethnic and cultural groups coming from New Jersey and New York.
