World Cup Knockout Watch Parties Begin in Harrison
Jun 29, 2026
The FIFA World Cup moves into the Knockout Rounds, and Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison will continue serving as the NYNJ World Cup 26 Jersey Fan Hub.
From Tuesday, June 30 through Friday, July 3, 2026, the stadium is scheduled to host Round of 32 watch parties. These events will allow fans to gather in Harrison to watch World Cup knockout matches on large screens, enjoy fan activations, and experience the tournament atmosphere inside the stadium.
The Knockout Round is when the World Cup becomes even more intense. Unlike the Group Stage, teams can be eliminated with a single loss. That means fan interest is expected to grow, and the watch parties at Sports Illustrated Stadium may draw larger crowds depending on which national teams advance.
Tuesday, June 30 is also an official NYNJ Stadium match day. NYNJ Stadium will host a Round of 32 World Cup match at 5 p.m. France v. Sweden. That could create a broader regional traffic impact across New Jersey and New York, including increased pressure on highways, rail connections, and public transportation. On Wednesday, the USA team plays Bosnia and Herzegovina but in Santa Clara, California, at 8 p.m. Aired on Fox TV stations.

Harrison residents should be aware that the Sports Illustrated Stadium Fan Hub may generate local traffic even when the official World Cup match is being played in East Rutherford. The stadium’s location near the PATH Station, the Jackson Street Bridge, and the Ironbound section of Newark makes Harrison a natural gathering point for fans traveling through the area.
The most likely areas of congestion include South Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard, Cape May Street, Harrison Avenue, Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard South near the PATH Station, and local access roads around the Riverbend District and nearby apartment buildings.
The Fan Hub events are a major opportunity for soccer fans, but they also raise practical questions for Harrison residents. How much police overtime will be required? How will road closures and traffic control be handled? Will residents near the stadium have reliable access to their homes? How will pedestrian movement be managed between Harrison and Newark?
