Memorial Day Tribute in Harrison, NJ: Honoring Our Fallen Heroes

On Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 6 p.m., the Harrison American Legion Post 282 and Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post 340 Sgt. William Sawelson Post of Harrison, NJ, will be hosting a Memorial Day tribute. This solemn event will take place at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Park Veteran's Plaza, located at 10 South Frank E. Rodgers Blvd., adjacent to the Harrison Library and the Harrison "Courts" soccer field. The purpose of this gathering is to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country.

The Franklin D. Roosevelt Park Veteran's Plaza serves as a poignant reminder of the valor and heroism displayed by our armed forces throughout history. Join the Harrison American Legion and VFW Post 340 Sgt. William Sawelson Post on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 6 p.m. at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Park Veteran's Plaza for a Memorial Day tribute that will touch our hearts and remind us of the profound sacrifices made by those who fought to preserve our country's freedom. The neighboring borough the Mayor Dina Grilo and Borough Council of East Newark will be holding a Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in front of the East Newark Borough Hall located at 34 Sherman Avenue, East Newark, New Jersey.  The Public is welcome to attend.

In Kearny, the United Veterans Organizations of Kearny composed of the West Hudson Detachment Marine Corps League and the American Legion Post 99 of Kearny will be holding the 2023 Memorial Day Parade along Belgrove Drive in Kearny on Thursday, May 25, 2023 after the 7 p.m. dedication.  Belgrove Drive will be closed starting at Bergen Street through Midland Avenue for the parade. Mayor Alberto Santos and the Kearny Town Council will be in attendance at the ceremony and parade.

In North Arlington, Memorial Day tribute will be held in front of the North Arlington Borough Hall located at 214 Ridge Road, North Arlington at 2 p.m. followed by a Memorial Day Parade.  There will be also Music, Food Truck and Ice Cream after the Parade. North Arlington Mayor Daniel A. Pronti stated “Our goal is to make the day both a memorable and enjoyable experience for all of our residents, while remembering our fallen troops,”

Please note that there was no information available about the Harrison Memorial Day tribute on the official Town of Harrison website.  Your Harrison has assumed that the Harrison American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post 340 Sgt. William Sawelson Post of Harrison, NJ will be holding the Memorial Day tribute as previously scheduled throughout the years and it was an oversight by the Town of Harrison not to post the event.
