In an ongoing effort to strengthen ties between law enforcement and the community, the Harrison Police Department’s Community Policing Unit will host its second Pizza With A Cop event on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will be held at Kingsland Courts, located at 740 William Street, between William Street and Cross Street, near Harrison High School.

Pizza With A Cop is designed to create a relaxed and informal setting where residents can connect with local police officers while enjoying complimentary pizza and beverages. The initiative provides a valuable opportunity for open dialogue, allowing community members to share concerns, ask questions, and build relationships with those who serve and protect them.

This community outreach program began under the leadership of retired Police Chief David Strumolo, who helped establish it as a recurring and popular tradition in Harrison. The event is part of the department’s broader Community Policing strategy, which focuses on collaboration between the police and residents to solve problems, improve public safety, and enhance quality of life throughout the town.

The Harrison Police Department has a longstanding tradition of community engagement. That tradition was shaped in part by retired Deputy Chief Patrick Minutillo, whose leadership in the 1990s and 2000s emphasized proactive outreach, such as organizing Naturalization Drives. These efforts helped residents on the path to U.S. citizenship and were supported by groups like the Harrison Fest Committee and the Centro Romeu Cascaes Portuguese American Community Center. Initiatives like these helped build trust between the police and local residents, fostering a more unified and supportive community.

Today, under the guidance of Police Chief Stanley Titterington and Police Director Nicholas Breiner, the department’s Community Policing Unit continues to build on this legacy. Their focus on transparency, communication, and neighborhood collaboration reflects a modern and forward-thinking approach to law enforcement.

Residents of Harrison are encouraged to stop by Kingsland Courts on July 24th, enjoy some pizza, and get to know the officers who work every day to keep their community safe. Events like Pizza With A Cop are more than just social gatherings—they are a cornerstone of a policing philosophy that values mutual respect, dialogue, and partnership.
