On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, Harrison, New Jersey will hold its Democratic Primary Election, which will include a contested election for the County Executive and County Commissioner (formerly County Freeholder) positions. The Hudson County Democratic Organization is facing off against challengers from the Progressive Democrats of Hudson County for these positions.

The candidates for the Hudson County Democratic Organization are Craig Guy for County Executive and Albert Cifelli for County Commissioner. Meanwhile, the Progressive Democrats of Hudson County are fielding Eleana Little for County Executive and Alex Valdez for County Commissioner. It will be interesting to see how this race plays out as both parties work to secure the support of voters in Harrison and the surrounding areas.

In addition, the incumbent Harrison Council members are running unopposed in their respective wards. These include Maria Caamano for the 1st Ward, Eleanor Villalta for the 2nd Ward, Delfim Sarabando for the 3rd Ward, and Michael Dolaghan for the 4th Ward. While these candidates may not face a primary challenge, they may face a challenge in the November 2023 General Election, if a resident in their ward files a Petition to run for Council in their Ward by the filing deadline June 6, 2023.

Primary Election Day serves as the deadline for candidates to submit petitions to run for Council in Harrison in the November 2023 General Election. Any resident who wishes to run for Council must submit their petition to the Hudson County Clerk in Jersey City by 4 p.m. on June 6, 2023, in order to be on the November General Election Ballot.

This year's primary election promises to be an exciting one, with several key positions up for grabs. With the County Executive and County Commissioner races being contested by candidates from two factions of the Democratic Party, voters will have a choice to make. Additionally, with the deadline for candidates to submit their petitions falling on Primary Election Day, there could be some surprises in store for the November General Election ballot if resident(s) submit a Petition to Run for Council in Harrison.
