First & Last Harrison Town Meeting Canceled to Start 2023

Dec 30, 2022
Town of Harrison NJ Town Hall Meetings

The Town of Harrison governing body has canceled its last meeting of the year, the Harrison Redevelopment Agency Meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, December 28, 2022, and its first meeting of the New Year, the Mayor & Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 3, 2023.  Traditionally, the first meeting of the Mayor & Council is a reorganization meeting with various appointments of council members to committees and professional assistance such as the Town Attorney being appointed for the year. By law, the Mayor & Council had to meet on January 1st of each year to hold the ReOrganization meeting.  Meeting on the 1st of January lead to some curtailed celebrations or some very difficult meeting attendances by elected officials.  The law was relaxed or changed to allow a meeting after January 1st.

The Harrison Redevelopment meeting has been moved to Monday, January 9, 2023, at 1 p.m. via Zoom.  The Harrison Mayor & Council meeting has been moved to Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.  Other meetings of interest are the Harrison Zoning Board meeting being held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. which is the only Town of Harrison meeting being held in person. It is not clear with the spike in Covid cases in Northern New Jersey whether the Health Department or State of New Jersey Health Authorities will force the Zoning Board to hold a Zoom meeting.  A second meeting of the Harrison Redevelopment Agency is scheduled for Monday, January 23, 2023, at 1 pm. Via Zoom.  On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, the Harrison Planning Board will hold its meeting via Zoom at 6 p.m.

Look out for the scheduling of a Special Meeting in particular for the Harrison Mayor & Council meeting.
