Centro Romeu Cascaes Portuguese American Community Center

If you are looking for a fun night and the opportunity to support local non-profit organizations, September is the month for it.  Three local organizations are holding Tricky Tray Nights.  They seem to have coordinated their events as each is on a separate day. Are you attending all of them or only one or two?  Let us know in our Discussion Board.

Harrison-East Newark Tricky Tray

The first to kick off the month is the Harrison-East Newark Elks who are holding their Tricky Tray on Saturday, September 17, 2022, starting at 5 p.m. at the Harrison-East Newark Elks Lodge located at 406 Harrison Avenue, Harrison NJ.  There is a cash bar.  Bring your Own Snacks is what the flyer says.  For more information visit the Harrison-East Newark’s Elks Facebook page.  You can purchase tickets from Justine by calling 908 884-7973.

Centro Romeu Cascaes Portuguese American Community Center

The Centro Romeu Cascaes Portuguese American Community Center (Portuguese Club), located at 14 North Frank E. Rodgers Blvd, Harrison, NJ, will be holding its inaugural Tricky Tray event on Friday, September 23, 2022, starting a 6 p.m. with the first drawing at 8 p.m.  The Portuguese Club has four levels of Prizes.  The Grand Prize level includes Vacation Resort Certificates, Luggage Set, a 55” Flat screen television, a Coach and a Michael Kors purse, Gift Certificates from Local Businesses, and other items.

Admission is $25.00 but that includes appetizers and dessert. Sounds like a good deal when you consider it also includes water (the best for you), soda (not so good if it has hi-fructose corn syrup which it likely does), and a cash bar for those who are of age and want to check out some Portuguese wine and American spirits.

Contact Irene at 201 889-7747 or Manuela 973 652 6810 for information.  There is limited seating so reserve your seat to avoid being turned away at the door. The Centro Romeu Cascaes is know to sell out its events.

Pathways to Independence

Although it is not in Harrison, the Pathways to Independence, a non-profit corporation is also holding its Tricky Tray to benefit adults with Disabilities on Saturday, September 24, 2022.   The organization is holding its 20th Annual Walk-A-Thon on the same day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in West Hudson Park.  There was not a lot of information online so for more sponsorship information and/or putting a team of walkers together and the Tricky Tray event please call Pathways to Independence at 201 997-6155.   Pathways for Independence is located at 60 Kingsland Avenue in Kearny, NJ just past the Harrison-Kearny border off of Schuyler Avenue in Kearny, NJ. Visit Pathways to Independence’s website by clicking here.
