Early Voting Begins in New Jersey on Saturday, October 25, 2025

Early Voting 2025 Dates

Early in-person voting begins across New Jersey on Saturday, October 25, 2025, and continues through Sunday, November 2, 2025, giving voters the flexibility to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day. However, the Town of Harrison does not have any Early Voting location this year — though that’s expected to change next year.

No Early Voting Locations in Harrison This Year

While most Hudson County municipalities have designated early voting sites, Harrison residents must travel to nearby towns to vote early. The closest Early Voting Location is at Kearny Town Hall, 402 Kearny Avenue, with ground-level entry marked by signage that says “Vote Here” and an American flag at the entrance.

Other nearby early voting sites include Jersey City City Hall, located at 280 Grove Street (Montgomery Street entrance), which is easily accessible by taking the PATH train from Harrison.

Harrison Mayor James Fife confirmed that the town is planning to host its own Early Voting site in 2026.  Hopefully, the Election officials in Hudson County will provide Poll Workers who are not loyalists of Mayor Fife. At a victory party in a past Mayor & Council election, Mayor Fife thanked publicly County Poll Workers for all their help at the polls, in particular pointing out the help in the 2nd ward, which was “a tough ward.”  The 2nd Ward encompasses the Harrison Redevelopment Zone.

Mayor Fife Announces 2026 Re-Election Bid

In a Mayor & Council meeting last year, Mayor Fife announced that he will be seeking re-election in 2026, along with four current members of the Town Council whose terms are also expiring next year.

Details on Early Voting Across New Jersey

From Saturday, October 25, through Sunday, November 2, registered voters can cast their ballots in person at any early voting location in their county. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Hudson County voters will use the same machines for early voting as they will on Election Day, the ExpressVote XL machines made by Election Systems & Software (ES&S). These state-of-the-art ballot-marking devices allow voters to make selections on a touchscreen, print a paper ballot for review, and submit it securely.

The paper ballot ensures a verifiable paper trail for recounts or audits — a key improvement over earlier electronic-only machines used in the county.

Why Early Voting Matters

Early voting is designed to reduce lines and congestion on Election Day, while providing residents with more flexibility to participate in the democratic process. Voters who anticipate scheduling conflicts, travel, or other obligations on Election Day are encouraged to take advantage of the early voting period.

To vote early, make sure you are registered, confirm your polling site, and bring proper identification.  New Jersey does not require you to show identification to vote as a general rule. Exceptions exist if Election Officials have marked a particular voter in the Voter List to be checked. If you are advised by a Poll Worker that you are not eligible to vote, request a Provisional Ballot, which you can then complete and put in a provided envelope to be counted if, in fact, you are eligible to cast a vote. Be sure to seal the envelope. A provisional ballot is similar to a Vote By Mail Ballot except the poll Judge keeps the ballot and documents its existence for County Election officials.
