Harrison NJ Hydrant Flushing Schedule 2026 Announced

Residents in Harrison, New Jersey should be aware that the Harrison Water Department will begin its annual spring fire hydrant flushing program the week of April 6, 2026. The routine maintenance is expected to continue for approximately six weeks, wrapping up around May 15, 2026. 

Crews will conduct flushing operations Monday through Friday during overnight hours, from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m, a schedule designed to minimize inconvenience for residents and businesses. This important maintenance process helps remove mineral buildup from water mains, maintain high water quality, and ensure that fire hydrants are fully operational for emergency use. 

While the work is essential, residents may notice some temporary changes during flushing hours. Water pressure may drop briefly, and tap water could appear discolored or cloudy. Although the water remains safe to drink, officials recommend running cold water until it clears before using it for drinking, cooking, laundry, or dishwashing. 

Residents are also advised to avoid doing laundry during active flushing periods, as discolored water may stain lighter fabrics. Taking a few simple precautions can help prevent inconvenience while crews complete this necessary work.
